Religious School at Pikesville Online Registration

Religious School at Pikesville Online Registration For High School

The Berman-Lipavsky Religious School faculty and staff are thrilled to welcome everyone back for a full in person Sunday religious school program for the 2021-2022 school year. The pandemic led us to very creative programming, some of which we look forward to continuing for the upcoming school year.  Although we hope to see all students back in person for safe and educational community building, we will also offer a virtual Sunday program for those who are not ready to come back.  If you have any questions about the program, please reach out to Amy Goldberg, Religious School Director, amy@bethelbalto.com or 410-484-4543.

Tishrei B’Teva

Classes will begin for EVERYONE (in person and virtual) at Beth El in person on Sunday, September 12th.  We will meet in person, outside, every Sunday in September to celebrate the holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah. Students will be grouped in their classes and will follow covid safety procedures.

The following Sundays will be outdoors, weather permitting:

  • Sunday, September 12- FIRST DAY
  • Sunday, September 19
  • Sunday, September 26

We will resume with in person/virtual programming in October.

Guiding principles for the 2021-2022 school year

  • A fully IN PERSON program will be offered with a robust schedule of activities on Sunday. A VIRTUAL Sunday option will also be available for students in 1-6th grades.
  • Flexibility is the hallmark of our offerings. Flexibility in timing and opportunities will fit your family’s needs.
  • Friendships and Jewish community building are key components to a student’s engagement in Religious School. Families are also looking for opportunities to connect around shared interests.
  • The safety and health of our families are top priority.

Sunday Mornings

There are two options available for your family to select:

  1. IN PERSON (pre-K – 6th grades)
  • Small classes meet with teachers weekly.
  • Classes meet in person outside or socially distant indoors.
  • Offerings such as tefillah with Cantor Blatt and project based electives will be part of the Sunday schedule as the pandemic allows.
  • Students will regularly engage in community holiday programming.
  1. VIRTUAL ONLY (1st-6th grades)
  • Small classes meet with teachers every Sunday morning on Zoom.
  • Following classes, students engage in tefillah/music with Cantor Blatt.

Hebrew Options 2nd-6th grades

  • Mid-week virtual- families will sign up for 30 minute/once a week session through a virtual scheduling program for individualized Hebrew instruction.
  • In person- small group sessions for 30 minutes on Sunday before or after religious school.

Lapid Learners
The 7th grade class will continue to meet twice a month with either Rabbi Saroken or Rabbi Schwartz. They will gather either virtually or in person, outside in the pavilion, when weather allows. The full schedule will be available in the welcome packet.

Hebrew School in Your "VIRTUAL" Neighborhood
Hebrew School in Your Neighborhood satellite schools will be VIRTUAL ONLY this year. Schools will meet on their regularly scheduled day on Zoom. Students will also sign up for the mid-week Hebrew instruction at their convenience unless otherwise notified. In addition every effort will be made to offer in person, socially distant gatherings throughout the year. More information will be emailed to individual satellite schools.
