The Berman-Lipavsky Religious School and its Satellite Programs are off to a Flying Start!
A Hebrew School in the Roland Park Neighborhood is off to a great start. Ten students are registered so far with ages ranging from 3 – 7. The feedback was instantaneous. Mr. Eric London, father of Ben, wrote to Morah Jill Eisen after the first class, “Just wanted to let you know that Ben enjoyed Hebrew School on Monday. Thanks for bringing the course to the neighborhood, we are very appreciative.” Mrs. Heidi Berman wrote, “It was great seeing you at Roland Park on Monday. The kids were very excited about everything they did, especially their frosting, M&M, and sprinkled Israel! We are looking forward to a great year!”
In the Hebrew School in the Federal Hill Neighborhood, we have tripled the number of our students in our third year! New this year is our 3’s and 4’s class taught by Morah Limor Basin. She had them singing, coloring and designing a collage out of magazine pages. At the end of class these children joined the older students to learn Shabbat songs and the HaMotzi, Blessing over the challah. In the upper grades, we reviewed the map of Israel and then the students interpreted what they learned into maps of Israel made out of icing, sprinkles and M&M’s. Mrs. Karen Stysley was excited to register her daughter Miriam again this year, “She had a great time last year, it's so nice that she is going back to you guys (Morah Jill and Morah Jillian)!”
Promoting our schools is an on-going process. Morah Jill Eisen represented Beth El Congregation and Schools at the Jewish Party in the Park on Sunday, September 18. She said, “It was so much fun seeing our members at community events as well as meeting potential new members and students. The weather was gorgeous and everyone was in a great mood. People are always interested in learning about our Hebrew Schools in Your Neighborhood program. One family requested a satellite school in Severna Park!”
The Berman-Lipavsky Religious and Sunday School is off to record numbers from the last five years! We had to divide our Mechina (first grade) class and our Aleph (second grade) each into three classrooms due to the increase in enrollment. We look forward to an exciting new school year with the Jewish education guidance of Rabbi Faith Cantor. Each family program will contain new and interesting elements. The parent education sessions will be relevant and thought-provoking.
The school calendar can be found on the home page of our website: www.bethelbalto.com under the “Quick Links” section at the bottom left.
Our school registration is still open, contact Fran Davis, fran@bethelbalto.com, for more information.
Adam Stern and Sara Swimmer both from the Federal Hill Neighborhood School enjoy an interactive
activity using lots of yummy treats! They had to interpret what they learned about the map of Israel
into their own maps.
