This fall the Pauline Mash
School for Early
Childhood Education will
have a new director, Debbie
Rabin. Debbie, who began at
Beth El in June, comes with a
wealth of experience in Jewish,
secular and special education.
She takes over the thriving program
from Ellen Marks who has
moved on to other roles within
Beth El.
Debbie is looking forward to
incorporating some new educational
philosophies in the preschool.
At the same time, she
realizes the challenges. Debbie commented
that, “gaining the trust of parents and staff is
always a challenge.” She added that,
“Challenge is important, it creates better performance
by everyone involved.”
At first impression Debbie knew that Beth El
was not only a great place to work, but also to
be involved. She found the congregation very
warm, honest and real. The parents are receptive
and loving and everywhere in the Beth El
community there is a sense of family. As for the
clergy at Beth El, Debbie could
not be more impressed with
their ability to be in touch with
the real world while leading
such a vibrant and large community.
Debbie served for the past 7
years as the Preschool Director
at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in
Chevy Chase, Maryland. In her
22 years of experience Debbie
has also worked in special education
in Israel, as well as a
Hebrew teacher in the
Washington area.
“This is a terrific opportunity,
to take over a thriving, growing and well
organized school. I am looking forward to continuing
its strong tradition while also creating
some new programs that I feel the parents, staff
and most importantly children will enjoy.”
Director of Education, Dr. Eyal Bor commented
that, “Debbie is energetic and experienced
with new trends and ideas to make our
school the best in the area. I am impressed with
her outgoing manner and liveliness. Debbie is approachable and friendly. She will incorporate a new curriculum and
technology in our school; thus our students will benefit and become ready
to take the next step.”
Beth El President Ray Kahn had the same impression. “Her description
of what she wants in a nurturing classroom coupled with utilizing the
newest standards in teaching makes me believe that our Pre-School will
achieve a standard in our community second to none.”
Beth El welcomes Debbie Rabin into its family, and knows that her
experience and ideas will start a new chapter in the Early Childhood
Program here. |
