Preschool Friday Night Dinner Recap

On Friday, May 14, families gathered together for a successful Preschool Shabbat Dinner, which was part of the EC Dr. Beatrice Miller Project Mishpacha program.  Fifty people, including several sets of grandparents and both of our ECC chairs were there with their families.  (Pictures below)

The fun began with a sing-a-long including “Give a Little Tzedakah” as children gave tzedakah, which was followed by the children carry plush Torot (Torahs) as they marched along and sang “Torah, Torah”.

Following the blessings for the candles, wine and challah everyone enjoyed a delicious traditional Shabbat dinner.  As the parents and grandparents continued eating and schmoozing, the children and Morah Talia enjoyed several stations including a giant Jewish year memory game, a variety of Shabbat and Shavuout coloring pages, and a zillion Shabbat and Torah story books.

Before leaving, families were given a handout that included the songs, blessings, the biblical sources for Shabbat and approximately 40 simple ways to make Shabbat meaningful for their families (including several ways that were personally tested by Morah Talia and her family). They were also given a Sammy Spider Shabbat game to take home.  It was wonderful evening as the families enjoyed a Shabbat meal and related activities together.  Everyone who attended raved about the evening.
