Beth El Congregation wants to help you help the people of Haiti in the wake of the catastrophic earthquake that has struck this impoverished island nation. Here are three ways that you can make immediate contributions that will make an immediate difference:
The American Jewish World Service has established the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. You can read more at the main AJWS website, www.ajws.org, or go directly to their donation site, https://secure.ajws.org/site/Donation2?df_id=3460&3460.donation=form1.
The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism as a link up on its homepage. Go to http://www.uscj.org/index1.html and you will find the link under the USCJ Bulletin Board. A new window will open for the USCJ Disaster Relief Fund. Funds collected by the USCJ will be sent to The American Joint Distribution Committee for disbursement.
The United States Department of State, www.state.gov is in partnership with the Red Cross. To help, text "HAITI" to "90999" and $10 will be sent the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill. The State Department webpage will also give you information on how to find Americans who might be in Haiti.
