On Shabbat, September 5th, one of our gabbaim had a cardiac event while on the bimah during the Torah service. He collapsed and emergency personnel were called. Our emergency plan went into effect and our automated external defibrillator (AED) was used. Several congregants and staff assisted until the paramedics arrived to take over. Our gabbai was transported to Sinai Hospital where he is recovering nicely and is expected to be home before the weekend. Our wishes for a speedy recovery go out to him and a special Yasher Koach to the staff, congregants and emergency personnel who performed above and beyond to save a life. |
